When Abram was asked to leave his father’s house and voyage to a foreign land (Genesis 12), Abram acted in faithfulness and went. The Hebrew word used here is sojourn. He found himself living in a foreign land as a resident alien. He lived completely reliant on the hospitality of those who already lived there and, truly, on God Almighty.
To live a life completely reliant on God. . . this is faithfulness.
This is living in the centre of God’s will:
Sojourning.
We too are called to sojourn – to step outside our comfort zone, to act as resident aliens in our circumstances, so that our only option is to rely completely on God to sustain us.
How can you step out in faith and sojourn in your life today?
