PUT ON SALVATION ARMOR | CADET DAVID HICKMAN

Stand up, stand up for Jesus!
Stand in his strength alone;
The arm of flesh will fail you,
Ye dare not trust your own.
Put on salvation armor,
And watching unto prayer,
Where duty calls or danger,
Be never wanting there.

3rd Verse of “Stand up for Jesus”,
George Duffield (1818-88)

In my pilgrimage with God thus far I have learnt the hard way, over and over again that, as the third verse of “Stand up, stand up for Jesus states”, “The arm of flesh will fail you”, as I have often tried to live the Christian life on my strength alone. But since arriving here at CFOT God has put a new prayer in my heart based on Ephesians 6:10-18, one that better prepares me for the Spiritual battle that I so often encounter.  This is a prayer that I pray out loud to end my quiet time with the Lord during my early morning devotions, it is never exactly the same but changes as the Spirit leads. I have found that it helps centre me, and aids me in focusing on the Lord’s gracious provisions and the fact that we need to “Stand in his strength alone”. I hope you find it spiritually beneficial!

Please Read Ephesians 6:10-18 prior to praying this prayer.

Dear Loving Heavenly Father; I thank you for the gracious provision of your one and only Son Jesus, who by His death and resurrection made an attoning sacrifice for the sins of the world. Lord God I am so grateful for my Salvation, my life is so much more purposeful since I received you as my personal Lord and Saviour. God I pray that you would use me this day to bring others into a relationship with you so that they too many receive Salvation and total deliverance. Lord, I put on the Helmet of Salvation.

God you are so Righteous, your ways are just and merciful. Lord I acknowledge that by myself I have no righteousness, but I claim the righteousness that is found by being in a relationship with Jesus. Lord give me eyes to see, ears to hear, and words to speak. Lord, I put on the Breast Plate of Righteousness.

Jesus I thank you for the Truth that is revealed within the Bible. In a world full of untruth I know I can claim the promises laid out for me in your Word. Help me to listen to the voice of truth this day. Lord, I put on the Belt of Truth.

Holy Spirit I thank you for your presence, and the peace that you bring into all aspects of my life. Holy Spirit I find sometimes that it is so easy to lose my focus and in the process lose that peace that passes all understanding. Help me to walk in your presence this day and to be a messenger of peace to a world that so desperately needs it. Lord, I put on the Sandals of Peace.

God, faith is such an integral part of our relationship, I acknowledge and give you thanks and praise for the way you have revealed yourself in my life. God help me this day to seek opportunities to further build my faith and trust in you. Lord, I lift up the Shield of Faith.

God your Word is powerful, and the message contained within its pages can transform our lives. I pray that you would give me a deep thirst for your Word, a thirst that would be unquenchable until the day I stand before you in eternity. Help me to acquire a vast understanding and knowledge of your Word. Lord, I lift up the Sword of the Spirit.

Lord God I pray that you would lead and guide my footsteps this day, and that I would walk in your strength alone. Amen!

     Praying Scripture – 1 Chronicles 16:29

    “Ascribe to the LORD
    the glory due his name;
bring an offering and come before him.
    Worship the LORD
in the splendour of his holiness.”

    Living Scripture - Hebrews 12:8-9

    If you are not disciplined
    (and everyone undergoes discipline),
    then you are illegitimate children
    and not true sons.
Moreover, we have all had human fathers
    who disciplined us
and we respected them for it.
How much more should we submit
to the Father of our spirits and live!

    Living Scripture - Daniel 6:10

    Now when Daniel learned
that the decree had been published,
he went home to his upstairs room
where the windows opened toward Jerusalem.
Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed,
    giving thanks to his God,
just as he had done before.

  • EASTER SPECIALING 2012

This Easter CFOT Cadets and Officers had the privilege of participating in a variety of Easter activities and services at Corps in Alberta.

Small goups of Cadets/Officers participated in all aspects of the Easter Services and were also able to spend some valuable time with youth groups.  In Calgary tradition, some of our CFOT folks were “white hatted” (see photos below).  A wonderful time of worship, outreach and fellowship was had by all.

A big thank you to the Alberta Divsion for hosting us!  You have been so gracious to us in sharing your ministries, your homes and your hearts with us…
