Do we see, Imean really SEE those hurting in our world today? Because if we do . . .
We know the one who can bring relief and justice.
If only we would see.
Have you seen this woman recently-
the one who crouches in the darkness,
the one who buckles under pain?
The shame,
I know,
is what keeps her hair covering her eyes.
And her hands,
I’ve seen,
only know the feeling of trembling and hiding-
never to peek their way our of her shirt sleeve.
Her feet,
her legs,
Desire to flee,
to fly
But they can’t,
they won’t
They’re stuck,
they’re frozen.
Tree trunks setting down roots,
Setting down roots deep,
deep into toxic, dark soil.
And where’s the sun that brings this tree life?
There.
Waiting.
Patiently, longingly.
For someone to see her.
For someone to know her.
For someone to carry her.
So I ask you again-
Have you seen this woman,
this woman who crouches
in the darkness?
