Every session of cadets has a sessional name which is shared by cadets all around the world. This name identifies their session, and the years they trained. In a public meeting, when the name of a session is mentioned, you may hear officers who trained in that session shout out “Hallelujah”. Every General is given the privilege of naming the next five sessions of cadets.
If you click on the sessional names below you will be able to see individual pictures and profiles of our cadets.
This name signals the close intimacy that all entering into full-time ministry seek to enjoy, encouraging others to become also the friends of Christ in accordance with John 15:14 and in obedience to the divine commands. No previous sessional name has used ‘Friends’, but seven have included the name of ‘Christ’.
Proclaimers of the Resurrection (2011-2013)
Here is a sessional name that explicitly identifies those using it with the very first Christians. Paul tells us that without the Resurrection there is no hope of salvation (1 Corinthians 15: 12-19). Preaching the Risen Christ is thus our central mission. No previous sessional name has referred to “Resurrection”, though three have used “Proclaimers”.
Field Based Tailored Training Cadets
Cadets Leonard Heng and Peck-Ed Wong and Cadets Kim and Darryl Burry are cadets in the Field Based Tailored Training program. The opportunity to engage in FBTT is offered to candidates who demonstrate emotional and spiritual maturity, knowledge and commitment to the mission and practices of The Salvation Army, competence in ministry leadership, self discipline in the area of learning, have a significant number of exemptions based on prior education, and encounter special life circumstances that preclude two year training in residence at CFOT. Cadets Heng and Wong are based at North Toronto Community Church. The Burrys are at Courtney-Comox Valley Community Church.
