WORSHIP

Worship.  A noun or a verb? Depending on the individual who is defining the word worship could be both a noun and a verb. Robert Webber, a scholar of worship, has written, “Worship is a verb. It is not something done to us or for us, but by us.” C. Welton has expressed worship as, “A gift between lovers who keep on giving to each other.” The College For Officer Training equips future Salvation Army Officers to be both leaders and participants in and of worship. In exploring worship the following thoughts have been composed by cadets and officers with a desire to deepen their offering and understanding of worship.

  • POSTS INSPIRED BY THE SALVATION ARMY SONG BOOK:
In a recent College for Officer Training chapel staff and cadets shared songs from the Salvation Army songbook that had significance in their lives and spiritual development. We’d like to share some of their reflections with you as a source of encouragement, with the hope that you might reconsider the song book as not just a song book, but a book of prayer & worship as well.

      Scriptures for Praying & Living

      February 23, 2012

      Praying Scripture - Ephesians 3:11-12

according to his eternal purpose that he accomplished
      in Christ Jesus our Lord.
In him and through faith in him
we may approach God with freedom and confidence.

      Living Scripture -  Ezra 3:11

With praise and thanksgiving they sang to the LORD:
“He is good; his love toward Israel endures forever.”
And all the people gave a great shout
      of praise to the LORD,
      because the foundation of
the house of the LORD was laid.

      Praying Scripture - Galatians 5:1

It is for freedom that Christ set us free.
Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves
be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

      Living Scripture -  2 Chronicles 29:30

King Hezekiah and his officials ordered the Levites
to praise the LORD with the words of David
      and of Asaph the seer.
So they sang praises with gladness
      and bowed down and worshipped.

    • In Sunday January 22 2012

CFOT was pleased to welcome special guests Colonels Floyd and Tracey Tidd to our In Sunday on January 22, 2012.
The focus of their message was “Hope” and cadets and officers shared stories of life situations that may have seemed hopeless but which eventually brought them to know hope.

This In Sunday was also blessed by the attendance of our Field Based Training cadets – Peck-Ee Wong and Leonard Heng, and  Kim and Darryl Burry (and their family).
