Phoungern is so thankful for the opportunity to serve in The Salvation Army as an Auxilary Captain. He explains it this way: ”I thank God for the call to offership in The Salvation Army. I was longing to do something productive in the community and the country which gave me a new lease on life. Prior to God’s calling and work in my life I felt lost and hopeless, and now I am so blessed to be in His service. I see that I have even more than I bargained for! I am now serving the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords, in his kingdom, and I am a part of one of the best organizations in the world, The Salvation Army.”
John 15:16 – “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you might go and bear fruit – fruit that will last – and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.”

The Sombounknanh’s currently serve as the Corps Officers of the Hamilton Laotian Corps. The Salvation Army began its work with the Laotian people in Hamilton approximately 20 years ago. Phoungern and Oudaovanh have been part of that ministry from the beginning – first as lay people, then as the primary contact persons, then as Lieutenants, and now as Auxiliary Captains fully responsible for this beautiful community of Salvationists. The Salvation Army Hamilton Laotian Corps is primarily composed of Laotian families who immigrated here during the past couple of generations.
