mattrachelI grew up in a devout Catholic home in Wisconsin. Through a friend I came to know God more personally at age 13. As a young child, I had a desire to service God however it was not until the spring of 2005 when God gave me a clear call to serve Him as a Salvation Army Officer.
Mike Mailman shares his experience of being “in charge” in his summer appointment. It has been a real eye opener to spend a short time in the field in the driver’s seat this summer. It feels as if I have been called on to constantly put aside my own needs and will to serve others. My wife and I came into this experience expecting to give much more than
We have a variety of congregations here at Weetamah. There is the Sunday Morning congregation, the Wednesday morning congregation, and the Friday night congregation. Each of these groups is distinct and represents a different part of the community and represents a different role for those of us who are involved at these different times.
Writing from BC, Danette shares, I came across what I think would be a good definition of servanthood in Philippians 2:3-4. It says, “Don’t be selfish; don’t live to make a good impression on others. Grand Falls - Windsor is full of opportunities for ministry. Last week I had the privilege to perform a baby dedication at Grand Falls Citadel. It was something that I had never done before, and there was some hesitation on my part as to how to conduct the dedication ceremony.
One thing I have recently heard is that a Minister’s job is both pastoral (caring for those within the church) and missional (reaching out to those outside our church doors). There needs to be a healthy balance between the two, not neglecting one or the other. Visitation is usually thought of as mainly pastoral,
Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine is a city of contrasts. There is a large segment of the population which lives in poverty, worse than anything I have seen in Canada yet the number of upper class citizens is growing, and unfortunately, with little concern for social justice.
Rebecca Pretty writes from her summer assignment in Regina: ” I must decrease so that Christ can increase.” For the past few days I have been thinking about this and yesterday, God allowed me to see it with my own eyes as I sat in the office here in Regina preparing for VBS.
