Saskatchewan | NE Circuit

“You say there’s not a lot going on?” We all know the theme song from the hit TV show Corner Gas… Well, just as comedian Brent Butt has shown us that there is more than what meets the eye in Dog River, the same can be said here in the North East Circuit of Saskatchewan. [...]

How old is too old?

At 59 Tom Watson, except for a missed 8′ putt, almost won the British Open.  I just turned 45 so I’m asking which pro sports would someone my age not be able to play?  Take the poll or add a comment.

KRISTALLNACHT |UNDERSTANDING CONTEXT

As part of our Field Training at CFOT we spend the first semester in learning how to understand our context through engaging, observing and participating in the life of the community in Winnipeg.  I came across this article on the website for the Jewish Federation of Winnipeg, wherein they acknowledged the presence of cadets at [...]

Sessional Flags

Were you aware every session of cadets that enters the training college has their own sessional flag?  Flags are symbols used for rallying the troops.  The imfamous picture of American troops raising the flag on Iwo Jima during the Pacific campaign in World War II is an iconic representation of such an ideal.  The sessional [...]

Where Everybody Knows Your Name

Are you familiar with these lyrics? “Where everybody knows your name. And they’re always glad you came. You want to be where you can see our troubles are all the same. You want to be where everybody knows your name” The Arkell family arrived at their new appointment in Portage La Prairie, MB in the [...]

Portage la Prairie | Exciting Adventure

Back in April our family was appointed to the Portage La Prairie Corps and Community Services.  We have now arrived, and what an exciting adventure it is becoming! Already I have sensed an abundance of support for the work of the Army in this city.  Some churches in Portage as well as our neighbours have [...]

Sounds scary to me

What has 24 eyes 24 arms and 24 legs and loves Slurpies and Timbits?  If you said the Notorious Flying Gurtch then…WRONG, but thanks for playing.  If you said the Witnesses for Christ Kidettes then you have won a prize.  I am applauding you as you read.  It almost sounds like that joke, you know…The [...]

Monday | More Words Available

Have you ever struggled to finish an essay when you only had 1 more page to go?  Or, have you ever searched for just the right word to convey what you were trying to communicate in a sermon?  Finally, what about Scrabble?  Have you ever wished that the Dictionary contained a few more words for [...]

Flexible Training

What if I already have my degree in Theology, Biblical Studies etc. when I come to CFOT?  It’s a common question, and one I asked 9 years ago when I went to Training College with a completed theology degree.  It isn’t a quick answer, but here are a few things to consider.  First, training isn’t [...]

    Scriptures for Praying & Living

    February 9, 2012

    Praying Scripture – Micah 6:8-10

    He has shown you,
    O mortal, what is good.
And what does the LORD require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God.

    Living Scripture -  Psalm 25:3

No one who hopes in you
will ever be put to shame.

  • In Sunday January 22 2012

CFOT was pleased to welcome special guests Colonels Floyd and Tracey Tidd to our In Sunday on January 22, 2012.
The focus of their message was “Hope” and cadets and officers shared stories of life situations that may have seemed hopeless but which eventually brought them to know hope.

This In Sunday was also blessed by the attendance of our Field Based Training cadets – Peck-Ee Wong and Leonard Heng, and  Kim and Darryl Burry (and their family).
