We have adapted instantly to our summer assignment location! It is good to be back in a community that speaks French. The Corps officers are just fantastic, and they are looking forwards to give us the best practical learning opportunities to fulfill our formation. This summer will give us a clear representation
Hello from the ROCK! We are really enjoying the salt air here in Newfoundland and we must say that upon our arrival we felt at home and welcomed by everyone. The hospitality is like nothing we have ever seen before and we truly feel like family here.
We are amazed at the strong comradery of all the Salvationists here.
Coming in for a landing on an eighteen passenger air plane into Cranbrook BC, while holding a bag up to Kurtis’ face I was able to sneak a peek at the mountains. Needless to say it was a rough ride from Calgary to Cranbrook. Cranbrook is a beautiful city that is surrounded by mountains and [...]
So far I feel like we have been more blessed than have been a blessing in beautiful Lethbridge, Alberta. Everyone has been so kind and welcoming, and Majors Brian and Edith Beveridge have been introducing us to many friendly faces at the Corps, Family Services and Thrift Store. We wanted to get better acquainted with [...]
The Weetamah community in Winnipeg, Manitoba is a wonderful community of differences. There are people of all different cultures, ages, backgrounds, and experiences. Weetamah is located near the downtown core of the city and has awesome ministry opportunities such as literacy programs, a food pantry, holistic community assistance and large youth outreach programs because of [...]

The adventures that come with being in a new place are rather exciting. Most importantly meeting new people and serving God in the community of Cranbrook was what thrilled us.
My first impression of the city of Regina is that it is a beautiful, clean city full of beautiful trees, flowers, and friendly people. I have thoroughly enjoyed my first week here in Regina and among the poeple I have met in the Haven of Hope Corps. God has given me a huge passion for [...]
We are in a little bit of a different context in that we did not have to arrive in a new community for our Summer Assignment but we are in a completely different Corps setting than we were all winter while at CFOT. The amazing thing about Weetamah Corps is the variety of programming that takes place here.
We touched down in Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine (Dnepr) on Wednesday, June 25, where we were greeted by Captains Tanya and Sergey Katchanov who began a Salvation Army church plant a year ago. In the last 5 day I have met many of their people, all young people in their 20s who speak little to no English.
And those where the words the Pilot spoke as he began lowering the aircraft towards ‘The Rock’. Passengers, myself included, leaned to look out the window to catch a glimpse of the beautiful island of Newfoundland. The west coast of this province was home to me for 19 years
