My time at Weetamah has been very exciting. I am learning that God works most when we learn to let go and let Him take control. The opportunities that present themselves for conversation when you least expect it are wonderful. We were on our way to visit someone this week when we passed her on the street.
With less than a week to go my time in the Ukraine is quickly coming to an end. What an amazing experience it has been though as I reflect on how God has used me as his agent in ministry. I have learned so much about God and his Kingdom. While playing football (soccer) with the abandoned children of the Dnepr Kid’s Shelter
Wow!! Time goes by so quickly!!! Last week, I helped Captains Jean-Curtis Cartmell and Rachele Lamont at the Lac L’Achigan camp, and I met many people who have in their heart the mission of the Salvation Army. Everyone works extremely hard and the hours of work are long and well filled.
I have to admit one of the things I struggle with as an Officer in training is writing sermons. You would think as a Cadet with a future in full time ministry it should come naturally, but for me it doesn’t.
In Lethbridge it is a rare occasion to see a homeless person. After spending the past year in Winnipeg, Lethbridge is truly the polar opposite. Today, however, Rachel and I were blessed with a brief encounter by a man I’ll call Luke. He was holding a sign that asked for food and bus money.
Ian Scott, pictured above at Winnipeg’s Christmas in July, reflects on the impact of God’s work and His moving as he serves in the Weetamah community. Being the hands and feet of God is an awesome task. Every day we meet people who are in desperate need of God and who are in desperate need of His grace.
It is hard to believe that I have been on the Sunshine Coast for 3 weeks already. The time has been just flying by and God has been giving me opportunities to learn different areas of ministry that I have not previously had opportunity to experience.
Descending towards the land so affectionately referred to as “the Rock” I glanced out the window of the plane and saw water give way to land and then land give way to snow! I couldn’t believe…Isn’t this supposed to be my summer appointment?
When I arrived in Ukraine my initial perception was that I was arriving in a country that was coming into its own. No longer a Soviet satellite, Ukraine is fast emerging into a democratic, capitalist, western society. While this has many positive benefits for the Ukrainian people it also has some negative drawbacks.
Greetings from the Sunshine Coast in beautiful British Columbia! In the short time that I have been here the Sunshine Coast has definitely been living up to its name. Everything about this part of the country is beautiful.
