October 31st, 1517 was a day that changed the history of the church (and the world) forever. Or so we are told by sensationalist historians. On this date Martin Luther reportedly nailed his 95 Theses to the door of Wittenberg Cathedral igniting the flames of what would become known as the Protestant Reformation. Martin Luther, a German Augustinian monk, is generally credited with being the Father of the Reformation in which the Roman Catholic Church irrevocably split.
