What has 66 legs, 14 horns, and 132 buttons? If you said the cadets at CFOT dressed in Full Uniform and assisting with Christmas activities in Winnipeg, then you are Correct!
Just to give you an idea of what cadets have been up to this month, on top of final exams, papers, and Field Hours here is a list of all the events and activities they’ve been involved:
Kettles, kettles and more kettles, Hosts and band for Hope in the City Breakfast, Ushers and band for the Carol Fest, Help at the Santa Claus Parade, Breakfast with Santa at Weetamah, The Subway Kid’s Party, Blue Christmas Service at HPT, Retired Officers Luncheon, Grace Hospital Hospice Family Service, Santa Shufflers, Tree Lighting at Golden West Centennial Lodge, Gift Wrapping Kiosk, Community Christmas Party at Weston, Adult Christmas Party at Southlands (Phil is a great potatoe peeler), Carolling at Headingley Prison, Preaching Advent Sermons at every Corps in the City, and did we mention kettles. And yes, this was only last week…no kidding. Cadets are gearing up to provide a combined 3,000 + hours of service over the next 2 weeks as they engage in their Winter Assignment in Winnipeg, across Canada and into North Dakota. Please keep them in your prayers, and be blessed by their wonderful witness.
The Santa Shufflers, pictured from left to right, are cadet Joyce Wilson, Mj. Margaret McLeod, Santa a.k.a. cadet Fred Reid, D.C. Mj. Junior Hynes, Mj. Ray Harris, and cadet Josh Downer. If rumour is correct then you’ll be pleased to know that Mj. Hynes finished 2nd overall in the 5km race, and Josh came in 3rd. And, by the way…Mj. Ray and Cathie Harris get up at 5am every morning to run or work out at the YMCA. I’m tired just typing this.
