In a 10 day period I have been caught in 3 downpours.
1. I was picking up moving boxes, to head to Training College, in the back of my brother’s big truck. Although I had suggested to the moving guy that I had tarps we could use, since the skies looked ready to open, he didn’t seem particlarly concerned about putting them on. But there I was, minutes down the road, getting soaked in a torrential rain and high winds while I struggled to cover the boxes.
2. At dinner, just prior to my Farewell Service, I again got caught in rain. In my haste to avoid further soaking, I ran and then dove in my car and slammed my head on the car door, giving myself a goose egg on the forehead and managing to draw blood.
3. Finally, while going for an evening walk with a friend, we misjudged the weather and managed to get caught in an unexpected rain storm while on the beach boardwalk. As we ran for shelter, I recounted a realization I’d had earlier that day that God was trying to give me a message (besides keeping an umbrella with me at all times, lol).
And I believe his message was this, “God wants to rain down on us.” He wants to pour out His spirit and His love and His power over us until it overflows onto every person we come across. Our Lord wants to use our gifts and talents and passions for His purpose. God desires to give us more than we can imagine. We just need to be willing to leave that sheltered spot and step out. We need to stand under the vast skies that He designed, and allow ourselves to get soaked in the downpour. As I make my way to CFOT, I desire to do just that!

Hey Joyce:
A few thought as you embark on this challenging journey:
1) If God will, you can with His help.
2) I think it was Jim Eliot who got it right-He is no fool who gives up what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose.
3) You look really happy in the photos!!!
