Parry Sound | I Love Camp

I love camping ministry!!! Kathy and I spent the final two weeks of our summer assignment at Newport Adventure Camp (NAC). Leading campers in their daily Bible devotions gave us the immense privilege of influencing their view of the world and of themselves. Campers were challenged to reflect on the question, “Where is God at NAC?” For some campers, our small and large group discussions about who God is and the plan he has for their lives was fresh learning; others were called to deepen their understanding of how they fit into the story God began at creation. I saw campers start to view themselves differently, as they began to understand ho
w much God loved them and how intimately he knew them.
Jesus, in speaking to his disciples said, “I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 18:3) As camp staff led a decision night, I looked on as campers rushed forward to pin their name, written on a piece of paper, to a wooden cross as a symbol of their decision to accept an intimate relationship with God. I praised God, for lives changed and the reminder of how to live in the liberating identity of a child of God.
