Friday nights are Jr. Youth Group and it has been a lot of fun. The last event was Water Wars. It has been so hot here the last few weeks we thought why not stay cool by getting everyone wet. It was a blast! The kids brought their water guns and we provided the water balloons. We played relay games, cold potato, sponge tag and pass the water balloon under your neck. We played a
game to see who could throw the water balloon the farthest (Nathan and I won). We even had to see how much water we could catch in our cups as the sprinkler sprayed us. Then we had an all out water war. There was water everywhere. Anything that could be used to get people wet or shield them from the water was used. The bowls that contained the water balloons became shields from the sponges and the spraying water. The bucket became a helmet and the water hose itself instead of filling the water guns was used to totally soak everyone.
This was just what they needed. After a long week of sitting home or attending day camps it was a great time to just stay cool and have fun. The funniest part was that it wasn’t just the kids having
fun. I’d say their parents were having even more fun. They all had water guns, they all tried to get each other, they were just as wet as the kids and best of all they had bigger smiles. Perhaps this was the perfect diversion from their long week, work stress and a perfect time to have fun as a family.
