Top 10 Things I Have Learned Since Coming To Saskatchewan
10. Yes, it is so flat you can watch your dog run away for hours.
9. The sky is HUGE
8. The Show Corner Gas really nailed it.
7. The people are friendly, farming folk.
6. The thunderstorms are absolutely OUTSTANDING.
5. If you get to the office at 8:00, you’re already late.
4. Cruise Control has a whole new meaning
3. It’s impossible to run out of wheat
2. 500 acres isn’t really that big.
1. God is doing amazing things in this prairie province
Having not ever heard of Melfort before, I packed up my bags and headed out to the prairies for the summer. As I drove I wondered, “How am I ever going to be able to relate to these prairie folk? I’m certainly a long way from the salt water I’m used to, how now can I become the salt of the earth in Saskatchewan?” Well, God had it all looked after and encouraged me with the verse in Joshua 1. “As I was Moses, I will be with you. I will never leave you or forsake you.” Since then, He has proved His promise again, and again and has revealed Himself to me. It’s in the faces of the kids at Adventure Camp, in the stories of the seniors, the actions of the officers who guide us. God is doing great things here, and I’m privileged to be a part of it.
