Prayer Warriors and Silence
Thu, Jun 18, 2009
It is one thing to talk about the spiritual disciplines. It is a different matter entirely to practice them. So with a mixed bag of expectations, from dread to delight, the Prayer Warriors spent a day in silence at St. Benedict’s Retreat and Conference Centre north of Winnipeg as part of the spiritual formation program. The venue is conducive to listening to God. There are few distractions. And the beauties of creation are a visual reminder of our Creative, Loving God.
Cadets are free to spend the day walking, reading Scripture, listening to God and preparing
spiritually for summer assignment. At the end of the day the group gathered to reflect on the experience. In those moments, God drew very close as people shared honestly and personally. We can truly hear God when we are still. (Ps. 46:10)
Perhaps you, too, could benefit from some silence. And we would invite you to pray for the Witnesses for Christ as they prepare for Covenant Day and Commissioning. Also pray for the Prayer Warriors as they anticipate ministry in their summer assignments.
