deanaPrior to life as an officer I worked for 12 years in residential model treatment homes for adolescents.  Those years provided invaluable opportunities for learning and were influential in developing the talents and gifts God has placed in me to bring to ministry .  Commissioned in 2002 with the “Crossbearers” session, my family and I were appointed to Williams Lake, BC, where I spent 4 years in pastoral ministry before moving to the College for Officer Training in Winnipeg, MB.

In addition to ministry, our three children (Jordan, Brianne, Elissa) keep life very active and full of laughter.  As we seek to live out our calling to ministry with The Salvation Army, we are challenged to find creative ways to minister God’s love and grace together as a family.  As I consider the exceptional people the Lord has brought into my life,  no matter how long the season,  I am filled with great joy and affirmation of my calling.

For me the good things in life involve people, but there is something to be said for the peaceful, renewing, early morning moments I enjoy alone in my back yard between May and September.
