Ian Scott, pictured above at Winnipeg’s Christmas in July, reflects on the impact of God’s work and His moving as he serves in the Weetamah community. Being the hands and feet of God is an awesome task. Every day we meet people who are in desperate need of God and who are in desperate need of His grace. God places those in our path who we are best equipped to handle and minister to at that particular place and time. It may be something as simple as a smile and a handshake to someone who feels alone; it may be an offer of a ride or carrying groceries to someone who is struggling on their own; it may be a discussion about the latest Blue Bombers game over a cup of coffee on Friday night. God uses His people anywhere and everywhere. We have been preaching on Heroes of the Faith this summer and all of our characters are in exactly this place of decrease. When you submit to the will of God, Christ is increased and glorified and His will is accomplished.
God is providing us with what we need, just when we need it. We were talking in the office about a shortage of meat in the kitchen and we received a call to come and pick up 200lbs of ground pork. We had some damage to repair here and an anonymous man came the following morning and delivered a $500 cheque because we helped him out last year when he was in need. God truly provides for us when we submit to Him.
I am not a person who has ever had any real fears. I don’t look at life that way. For me life is an adventure and if God chooses to call me and to use me then I hope and pray that I will hear and answer that call. As I approach ministry I look forward with anticipation to new experiences and pray that God will equip me to accomplish them as He sees fit.
