My time at Weetamah has been very exciting. I am learning that God works most when we learn to let go and let Him take control. The opportunities that present themselves for conversation when you least expect it are wonderful. We were on our way to visit someone this week when we passed her on the street. She was on her way to Weetamah with her son. We were able to give her a ride and found out that her meeting was not for another while and so was able to have coffee with her and catch up on her life and the concerns that she has for her family. Had we not stopped to offer a ride – a simple every day thing, we would have missed a wonderful opportunity to pray for this woman and her family.
Another gentleman at the service on Sunday was able to tell me how God was changing his life around – he had been clean for three weeks now and could just feel the Holy Spirit working in his life. He was sharing that instead of getting an apartment farther away he was looking for something closer to Weetamah so that he would be able to volunteer and give back to the community that has supported him. All it took was taking the time to sincerely ask how someone was doing.
As I see how God is working in the lives of the people in the community my prayer is that I will not lose sight of the fact that when we sincerely care for people and can learn to follow God’s lead, He will lead us to amazing opportunities to see His amazing power at work.
