st. jerome | ministering grace

There is no doubt that to minister in God’s grace, I must minister by God’s grace. It becomes evident in my daily journey through my summer assignment in St-Jérôme, Québec. I have to do things in a way that I had never done before. I am used to taking one issue at the time, and bringing it to a conclusion with a minimum of interference from the rest of the world!
Now I have dozens of issues to deal with, and some are time related, and some need to be taken care of at the same time. I must act like some kind of random unit that works in circular thinking. Yes, for a while I though that I was becoming crazy, but I let it go! I stopped to work on my own strength, and I rely on God. The job is not easier, but less stressful.
I can see the hand of God in the behaviour of a new comer from a program that works with ex-convicts. I’ll call him ‘Marc’ (not his real name). Marc has 150 hours of community service to do in our store, but he had a bad start: he did not show up to work on the second day. He called, and I told him to come back for a fresh start next week. He was pleased and touched with my answer, and promised to come with a fresh attitude. I prayed God to help him with his commitment.
Marc is the very first person I have ever had to supervise. I take this responsibility like a great honour that God sees me fit for the job! Today, I find out that he can test small electronic devices. He is happy. We needed him. God has a plan for Marc and us.
