HIGHLIGHTS | ORDINATION & COMMISSIONING SERVICE
Sun, Jun 24, 2012
We want to congratulate the Friends of Christ session on their Ordination and Commissioning! We thank the Lord for the many significant and sacred moments throughout the evening …
… the praise and worship
… the ordination ceremony led by Commissioner Peddle
… the entry and presentation of the new Lieutenants
… the recognition of the Lieutenants appointments
… the call for commitment and the response by many men and women in attendance
During the service the Friends of Christ recited their covenant in this beautifully rendered video. Click the play button to watch the video.

As the evening progressed the sacredness of the moment was felt as the Friends of Christ sang their sessional song about their passion for the lost and expressing praise to their Lord:
“We will join as one from nation to nation
We’ll shout for joy as our declaration…
We will fight for justice
No matter what the cost,
We will serve You Lord!”
As the words of the Friends of Christ sessional song filled the auditorium during the 2012 Commissioning, one could sense the conviction of the cadets singing the words. Clearly this is more than a sessional song for the Friends of Christ; it is their identity.
This evening a portrait was painted by the words of the territorial leaders and the sessional representative speaker that brought to light the image of a friend of Christ. Friendship with Christ is about leaving the comfort of friends and family in order to advance the gospel throughout the world. It is about loving others at any cost. Christ’s friends leave their old ways behind and daily accept a redeemed life through Christ. These friends never walk alone, but dwell in the transformative power in the Holy Spirit, and therefore represent Christ to the world. As our territory welcomes eighteen Friends of Christ as Salvation Army Officers we recognize the passion and commitment instilled in each of them by Jesus Christ to trust and obey as they live out their calling.
We praise the Lord for his goodness, his leading and direction in this service and for all that he has done and is continuing to do in the lives of those dedicated to his purposes.
Friends of Christ, you will be missed in the CFOT community. As you leave to go to your new appointments know that we will miss you and that we will be praying that you will live a God centered, God directed life and ministry.
As you check out the photos below which feature our new Lieutenants, please say a prayer for them, their families and their new ministries.
* A special thank you to Cadet Peter Hickman for his assistance with preparing this post…
