calling, preparation and formation

On the eve of embarking on another youth adventure as a chaperone for a retreat, I am reflecting where the past seven years have brought me. Back in 2002 Tracy and I started our journey into full time ministry as youth directors and that continued until we entered CFOT in 2007. I was able to be involved in many experiences in the corps where I was a soldier. The experiences were vital to where I am today, but it wasn’t until entering CFOT that I believe I found my leadership abilities, and understood my pastoral role. I feel I have been encouraged and confirmed that I am exactly where God wants me to be.
Training College is very much a place that makes you think and discover things about who I am as well as causing me to evaluate and grow my relationship with God. The amount of training and support I receive here I wouldn’t trade for the world.
For those who feel a calling to become an offier, you need to be open to what you can learn and give everything over to the will of God for your life. Honestly. like anywhere there are ups and downs, but you will only get as much out of this experience as you put into it.
Well… off to the youth retreat for me (pray for me!!), but I know these youth play into my life as much as I into theirs. Maybe God will use me to point them towards training college!
Jon and his wife, Tracy, are completing their training in the Witnesses for Christ session and look forward to their first appointment with their children, Kurtis and Kassandra.
