Jamaica | A Global Army

Cadet Claude Dagenais Reports:
There are Witnesses for Christ and Prayer Warriors all across the globe with the same call to serve God through the Salvation Army. It is a fraternity of cadets who share the same sessional name across the world. It has been a privilege to go to Jamaica and meet other cadets from my session, the Witnesses for Christ 2007-2009 as this has given me a worldwide vision of The Salvation Army and Officer training.
It was a blessing to hear my fellow cadets share about their 10 days of campaigning and the highlight moments of their journey. Their testimony presented the work of God in their ministry, and I was particularly impressed by their “school devotion ministry”. Hundreds of kids were gathered and listen to the gospel, and sing praises to God, and they saw the fruit of God’s work as many children came to kneel and give their live to Jesus. In a thankful attitude, they expressed their joy by writing songs that described the way that they were touched by the love of Christ that was shared among the community.
We were invited to the opening service of their Holiness convention, and it was most inspiring to worship the Lord in this Caribbean setting. Commissionaire Houghton brought a message intended to bring fire to his troops with the tenth doctrine and its meaningful passion for holiness. Everyone was exited to hear that 12 cadets were already confirmed for next year’s session, The Ambassadors of Holines. The Commissioner was very proud to show that the spirit of officership is growing, and that the college has a great impact on future ministry of officers.
Our mission group soon found out that we were there to give more than a facelift to the CFOT. Our combined involvement has brought light to the soul of the college community itself. The flag of The Salvation Army had not been flown for many years so it was great symbolism and hope when it had been raised where it belongs. We were present to witness the raising of the flag, an emotional time for the College and the surrounding community.
For me this was the beginning of a fruitful relationship. I invite every Witnesses for Christ and Prayer Warrior to connect with each other to gain global insight and an international perspective on the mission of The Salvation Army. Our strength within the Holy Spirit of God resides in the relationship that we engage by keeping in contact throughout ministry, and sharing stories, experiences, challenges and hope.
God bless The Salvation Army.
